For those of you interested, I was asked to speak about the spiritual formation conversation currently being had in evangelicalism and offer some thoughts about what it is seeking to accomplish. Click here to see the post over at Christians in Context
The first time I heard the phrase “spiritual formation,” was many years ago, on EWTN/RN; Eternal Word Television/Radio Network. It was originally in that context, Catholic: referring to the process of the “formation” or training of Catholic priests.
EWTN though, is not the official voice of the Catholic CHurch. And I’m a little worried, about the growing culture of conservative talk-radio religion; its authenticity, and which responsible agency, if anyone, is monitoring what is presented as the voice of God, there.
